AAF-KC Launches One-of-a-Kind Creative Conference

AAF-KC has scheduled a new, one-of-a-kind creative conference to be held on Friday, June 20, 2014. “Gas Can: AAF-KC Creative Conference 2014” will be held at the National World War I Museum at the Liberty Memorial in Kansas City.

This all-day event is devoted to the creative spirit that’s alive and well in Kansas City, featuring twelve different TED-style talks on topics like “Why We Create” and “Keeping Anxiety Out of Your Workflow,” plus four workshops during the day where attendees take a hands-on approach to creativity.

While speakers are still being finalized, confirmed participants currently include top advertising, creative and digital leaders such as John January, Tug McTighe, Stephanie Voss, Jenne Fromm, Zena Weist, Shelly Kramer, Kelly Ludwig, Garrett Fuselier and Cami Travis-Groves. Workshop leaders will include Stefan Mumaw, Austin Walsh, Katie Briggs and Sara & Paul Soseman. Christina Eldridge, CEO/Co-Founder of Red Dirt will be the featured luncheon speaker.

“The conference will feature twelve inspiring speakers covering a range of creative topics,” said Stefan Mumaw, Creative Director at Callahan Creek and creative chairperson of the event. “The four hands-on workshops cover everything from brainstorming to idea selling. ‘Gas Can’ is designed to be one of those desperately needed days of remembering why we fell in love with this industry in the first place.”

Mumaw added, “creativity isn’t the exclusive domain of creative departments, everyone benefits from generating ideas in greater quantity and quality, regardless of your expertise or job description. This conference is meant to both inspire and educate, its purpose is to challenge our perceptions of creativity and what it means to solve problems with relevance and novelty. We call that ‘bringing the boom.’”

Kyle Rohde, AAF-KC President and Account Supervisor with ER Marketing said, “this is an event like no other AAF-KC has ever hosted. Attendees can come for the morning session, the afternoon session, or stay all day. And it’s not just for agency creative; if your job, be it agency or client-side, requires you to solve problems creatively and drive innovation, this will be a day you won’t want to miss.”

Registration is currently open at the AAF-KC website, with cost for members at $110 and non-members at $160. AAF-KC is offering member pricing to all members of AAF from other regions throughout the country. Speakers and their bios will be updated on the website over the next several weeks.
